You can see all of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7’s key specs in the chart above, but it’s worth digging into them a bit more.

So let’s start with its screens – here you get an 8.0-inch 1968 x 2184 foldable AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, and a pixel density of around 368 pixels per inch.

It also has a 6.5-inch 1080 x 2520 AMOLED cover screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of roughly 422 pixels per inch. These screens are both bigger than the displays you’ll find on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, with that having a 7.6-inch foldable screen and a 6.3-inch cover display.

But despite having larger screens, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is actually thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 also has a more powerful chipset than its predecessor, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite in place of the older phone’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is the latest generation of Qualcomm’s flagship smartphone chipset, and it’s the most powerful chipset available to Android phones at the time of writing. It’s also what you’ll find in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

On top of that, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes with up to 16GB of RAM, compared to just 12GB in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 – though only the top 1TB model comes with that. If you pick a 256GB or 512GB configuration then you’ll instead get 12GB of RAM.

The cameras have also had an upgrade, with the main sensor in particular being a big improvement. This has changed from a 50MP f/1.8 one in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to a 200MP f/1.7 one now, and it also has a 10MP camera on the foldable screen (up from a 4MP one last year, but no longer under-display).

The remaining cameras include a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto with 3x optical zoom, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP camera on the cover screen, all of which are similar to last year. But combined, they impress, with our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review noting that its “overall photography is excellent” and that it’s “capable of some beautiful photography”.

Some areas haven’t been improved at all though, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 having just a 4,400mAh battery like its predecessor – though Samsung promises it will deliver up to 24 hours of video playback this year, compared to 23 hours from the Z Fold 6.

Charging also hasn’t changed, with both phones supporting 25W wired charging, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless.

Finally, Samsung hasn’t upgraded the IP rating either, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 once again having an IP48 rating – that means it can be submerged up to 1.5 meters deep in water for up to 30 minutes, but only has minimal dust resistance.
