Samsung Launches its First QD-OLED 500Hz Gaming Monitor

Samsung has officially launched the Odyssey OLED G6 in Australia, marking a significant milestone as the company’s first 500Hz OLED gaming monitor. The 27-inch display brings together cutting-edge QD-OLED technology with an ultra-fast 0.03ms GTG response time, setting new standards for competitive gaming performance. And here’s when I think 144Hz or 165Hz is good enough.
The monitor is now available for pre-order through samsung.com.au at an RRP of $1,699, with nationwide retail availability expected from August 2025.
The 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF model) combines a 500Hz refresh rate with QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution powered by QD-OLED technology. I actually like the 2K resolution compared to 4K and it’s a sweet spot in my opinion. I’ve always been a fan of 27″ as its not too taxing on the graphics card and I feel like it’s the perfect size for first person shooter gaming where you don’t want your screen to be too small or too big.
This combination ensures games remain fluid, sharp and responsive even during the most intense gaming moments. The monitor’s 0.03ms GTG response time should virtually eliminate input lag, giving competitive players the responsiveness they need to maintain their edge.
Samsung has equipped the display with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, delivering vivid colours and deep, true blacks that bring gaming worlds to life. The monitor also supports NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible technology for smooth, tear-free visuals without compromising performance.
It seems that extended gaming sessions have been a key consideration in the Odyssey OLED G6’s design. The monitor features a peak brightness of 1,000 nits combined with Samsung’s Glare Free technology, minimising screen reflections so players can focus entirely on their games. To address concerns about OLED longevity, Samsung has integrated OLED Safeguard+ technology, which helps minimise burn-in risks even during extended use.
Colour accuracy has been validated through Pantone certification, ensuring highly accurate reproduction with the ability to display over 2000 colours and more than 110 SkinTone shades from Pantone’s library. This level of colour precision, combined with the brilliant QD-OLED display, delivers visuals that match developers’ original intentions
